confused....Pinion Angle

im a little confused about my Pinion Angle (I should have checked it after i install the hangers ) .im @ +7 total, the Pinion is @ +7 and the drive shaft is @ 0. if i use a -4 degree shim will that get me -1 degree total or +3? also how wide of a shim dose a 04 use? im just trying to get this in check before i fab the traction bars
another question how do you install them? some people say you need longer bolts and others say you just loosen the u bolts and slide it in.

The pinion angle and the driveshaft angle should be within 3 degrees of each other I belive ..
Could be wrong but that's what I was told and how I've always done mine and never had a vibration or anything

2 inch drop hangers/2 inch drop shackles and the 4x4 lift block removed.
so by shimming the axle it wont move the drive-shaft angle down also?

It will move the driveshaft down some, but I don't think it will be as much as you want. I have the same drop setup on my RCSB and the pinion angle is horrible. I adjust my angles by measuring the drivetrain angle, then adjusting my pinion angle so it is 2 to 6 degrees negative from parallel.

and hopefully that will put me someplace in the range of -2 to -3 total pinion angle
beatdown do you run traction bars on your rcsb?

You need the driveshaft angle at the trans to be opposite of the pinion angle to alllow the u-joints to be able to properly operate and reduce vibrations and binding. Shimming the pinion angle is only half of it. Yes it is what directly effects the axle wrap and all that, but if you don't get the front side above a 0* angle, I'd say its going to vibrate like a ****.
