Question Clicking noise from front of trans???

I just bought a 2000 Silverado 1500 w/ the 5.3liter and when I start it and let it run, I can hear a clicking, almost like a exhaust leak, crawl underneith and the 2 plastic guards near the oil pan and trans are slapping against the bellhousing? Feels like somethings hitting if you put your hand on the plastic? You rev it up and it ticks faster as you rev up higher? Sometimes it goes away and sometimes dont.. And when I go from park to drive or reverse its not even noticable anymore..And ideas?

Sounds like the ole LS1 piston slap. Very common. It should be fine.

Is there anything I can do to quiet the noise? If i get underneith the truck while its running and push in on the plastic cover its feels like its slapping pretty good.. Someone recommended Lucas Oil Stabilizer?

It could be the converter.
I'm not sure now that you can feel it at the plastic cover.

Check the Torque on your Converter bolts.

My guess is that they are loose. My 86 Chevy did that.. kind of a tick tick tick.... put it in gear (Load the trans up) and it stops.

Flywheel to Torque Converter Bolt: 63 N·m (46 lb ft)

Took out the starter and glanced at the converter bolts and sure enough 1 was almost all the way out, one was about 3 turns loose and one was tight.. Tightened them up and no more click.. thanks for the help

I did that once on my Camaro! High stall torque converter, slicks and a stock flexplate don't mix.
