clattering torque converter

Default clattering torque converter

i just got it put in with the trans and when the torque converter locks up at low speeds like 40 to 50 somethin it makes a real bad chattering sound when your on the gas. what do you guys think it is.

Could be the converter clutch being bad... ive had that happen twice.....

If it locks up too low, it will make your entire truck sound like **** up under there. When mine was locking up early, it would sound like the converter was going to fall out of the truck. When the lockup was raised up, the problem went away. I think you have 100% tuning issues, so that's where I'd look first.

Approximately how much are you guys raising low speed lock-up to rid of this?

add 2mph and try that..

My problem was, when the clutch locked up it would slip like crazy and chatter bad..
i maxed out the TCC pressure and apply rate,, nothing helped so i set it not to lock up until i had time to take it out..

I guess this weekend I'm going to increase the low speed MPH by 8% and go from there.

You can add 2mph in the lower TPS range and start from there.. id say anything under 1600-1700 rpms?
