clanking noise after 3200 stall instal
#21
What they're saying is that the converter and flexplate shouldnt be touching when you bolt up the trans to the engine. Before you bolt the flexplate to the converter you are supposed to push the converter as far back as it goes and measure the distance between them. Its supposed to be between 1/16 and 3/16. If its more then you need to shim it. If its less then your converter is not seated all the way.

So i found out what the clanking is!
It's not my converter. It's the steering shaft rubbing on the headers. I thought i had banged the primary enough to clear and i didnt have any problems for a few months and then all of a sudden it starts to rub more than ever and makes the nastiest noise. Weird as hell!
