Default Chicago area gear install?

I have a 07 Silverado ECSB 2WD VMAX 20" wheels with a Black Bear tune. Runs great but I would like a little more jump off the line. I would like to install a set of 4.11 gears in the G80 14 bolt rear end. The truck gets used mostly around town on the weekends since I have a company truck to commute to work with, and hardly any highway miles. Will be getting the gears from Ron`s Machine Service because of all the good input posted in this forum. I need to find a shop for the install in the Chicago area. Preferably on the southwest side. Any recommendations?

Alot of guys here do there own gear swap most of the time. Any shop can do it even call the dealer. The dealer has the tools and can reprogram your computer for the new gear. Just call around and see what people quote you.

Finish Line Performance in Naperville. They also have truck tuning software so they can recalibrate your speedo. You dont want a dealer doing it since they might flash over your custom tune.

Do yourself and your gears a favor and ditch the G80 while you're in there...I'd go with a Detroit TruTrac or Eaton LSD. Not sure what the cost is for one for a 14 bolt, but the 10 bolt TruTracs are only about $400...worth every penny for the piece of mind IMO.

Thanks for the input. I will check out Straightline and Speed Inc. I talked to Finish Line about a custom tune before I found Black Bear and I did not like them. I have heard all about the bad things with the G80 and thought about installing a TruTrac. My truck is a true pavement princess, never going off-road, and I don`t do donuts. I do like to drive like a bat out of hell. With some straight line burn outs. Do you guys think the G80 will hold up when driven like that?

the 14 bolt g80 i think lives a little longer that the 10 bolts but im not sure how much longer. but the tru tracs are bullet proof. have only heard of a few failing ever.
