Default Can you manual transmission guys take a look in here? (

Hi guys, it's been a long time since I've last posted. Also a long time since I've been working on my truck (which is a good thing). I was underneath it today and looked at the bellhousing and was puzzled. I'm not sure if the head of this bolt broke off, or if perhaps the bolt is threaded from the inside of the bellhousing and pointing out. Can you 5 speed guys (nv3500) take a look and tell me if on your trans there's a bolt in this spot that goes inward or does the bolt thread from inside the bellhousing and out? Here are the pics. It almost looks to clean to me to be a bolt with a broken head, bit I just want to be sure.

I'm thinking the same thing as you are with it being to clean to be a broken bolt head.

I believe that is an alignment dowel.

Ya, that doesn't look like a break at all. I don't know that tranny but I do have knowledge of metal fatigue and failure and that has no indicators of failure. I cant tell from the picture but it appears there is not even enough room for the head of the bolt. It looks like it would hit the housing.

Yes a dowel, there is actually no room for the head of a bolt.
