Default Caltrac settings on a 2/4 drop?

These things are weird.

I set them according to the paperwork and I get tirespin like a ****. In general do you guys tend to crank em down more than the single turn they recomend or do you leave em just barely touching the spring?

Do you find that they are very touchy, IE 1 extra turn either way makes a huge difference?

I left mine just touching. I don't know if preloading them on street tires will yeild the best results as your transferring more force sooner.
I found that with them just touching, I still can't hammer the throttle out of the hole, but I can go WOT sooner, and at that point traction is very good vice spinning them down the track.

ok, i dont know if this will help you or not, since every car/combo is different. i have the full Cal-Trac setup (bars, mono springs, 9 way shocks) on my cuda, NOT my truck. ET's are in my sig.
it hooks the best w/ the bars set w/ no preload, just touching on both sides. shocks set from 3 to 5.

now i realize this is like comparing apples to oranges, but this is what worked on my heavy *** street car (3700 lbs). hooks pretty good on the street too w/ 10.5" wide ET Streets.

are you using the top or bottom mount point? i fought a wheel hop problem for a while until i lowered the bars to the bottom hole. night and day difference. the lower hole doesnt hit the tires as hard, smooths the launch a lot. less air under the front tires, but it 60 foots quicker. CHIP

I honestly can't remember the part # for my drop kit. It's just the drop leafs and 2" drop coils for the front.

In the rear I have 12way QA1s set at 5 for daily driving. QA1 race shocks up front set at 4 for daily driving.

I have the CalTracs set up using the top holes. I believe I started out just barely touching then with a lil extra twist but it was no good so I added another full turn or so and it got worse. I am not going to back em all the way off and just barely make em touch and see if that helps.

The crappy part is that I don't even have all the mods on this truck yet. It's still the stock 4.8L with 3.73s and open diff. It spins way worse with the Caltracs than without. LOL

I'll try this new setting and give the results after work tomorrow.

Shoot I don't remmeber that either. I buy too much crap to remember part #s. Hahaha

Either way they were wrong the first time anyway. They sent the wrong bushing inserts for my Springs then I had to send the bars back because they were too long and even on the top bolt I had zero adjustability. I had them swapped out for a 28.5" long bar instead of the 30" or 31" bars they originally sent me. So my kit is kinda miss matched.
