From what I understand, the frames on the NBS trucks can bend like butter when a cutting torch/plasma cutter is used. It has something to do with the forming process. I guess more than a couple shops found this out the hard way. You just have to go slow and brace everything. A sawzall or cutting wheel is probably better for a driveway DIY. My 2 cents

The frame must be supported in front and behind the notch before cutting, also do not tighten the bolts untill the truck is on the floor.

This goes for anytime your going to be cutting ANY part of the frame/body. Always brace and support everything MORE than you think it needs. Overkill and peace of mind is MUCH better than trying to figure out how far the rear end drooped when you hacked out a big section.

For the love of god, remove the leaf springs from the shackles (yip even seen shops leave them attached), pull the spare tire, and get anything heavy out of the bed if your going to leave it on.

My personaly feeling is if you have to ask, in this situation do not use a plasma torch, especially that close to the fuel tank. Experienced metal workers can get away with it, but will be much safer using a cutoff wheel and/or sawzall.

If you choose to use a sawzall be preapred to go through some blades before you get done with both sides.
