Default Busted 4l60e thread

alright my buddy just called me and said his tranny exploded at the track, I was like :???:

here are the symptoms
*Loud Bang When shifting to second
*NO GEARS at all
*Still has Park
*Truck will move if given a considerable amount of gas but only VERY slowly
*No fluid Leaking anywhere

Mods
*Bolt On 5.3
*Yank TT3000

Tranny is "mildly Built"
*Sunshell etc


My thought was pump, i am on my way out there right now to tow his *** home in my expidition

How fast does the truck honestly run? I can't see a mere bolt 5.3 hosing a tranny unless it was abused? Was it tuned? Did he have torque managment deleted?

these trans will go out if you sneeze during a launch from a stoplight. Mod just a little and they are gone (your results may vary). Maybe it is something simple and not a major failure.

It was shifing too hard... a harsh 1-2 will kill the poor lil 60E... ask me how i know..
I was able to drive about 1 mile on a busted Output shaft, i was broken in 3 places but the bearings inside the trans held it together right above idle.. any more throttle and you can imagine the sounds...


So yea, im willing to be the Output Shaft...

Output shaft or an input drum would be my first guess.

I broke a yank converter and it did exactly what your describing. Either that our input or output shaft
