built 65E slipping after 6months?
#1
I had a built 65e put in about 6 months ago complete with the following
"high temp raybestos 9 clutch pack (replaces factory 5 clutches),all new steels, bands bushings and rings. A 500 boost valve, 4140 hardened pump rings, a 29 element sprag, Over sized heat treated Sonnax sun shell, hardened input shaft N drum, high temp pro series raybestos kevlar band and a corvette servo. "
I also added a B29-2500 stall / anit balloon plate
Truck wont come out of first until 4-5000rpm under normal acceleration. If I punch it from any speed, it will hit the rev limiter and truck wont gain momemtum, it doesnt matter wether it is a 30, 50, or 70 punch. I called the shop up and they said they will look at it, do you all think it could be the TC?

Sounds like your 2-4 band is toast. When it comes out of first does it drop into 3rd?
Do you have a cooler and/or tranny temp gauge? Too much heat will kill the soft parts quickly.

No cooler, it was supposed to be included but thats another story...no temp gauge. At normal driving, for the exeption of it comming out of first at 4000 - 5000 rmp it runs fine and will cylcle through all the gears. If I punch it from a stop it is fine. If I punch it from a roll it will just slip no matter what gear it is currently in. I checked the tranny fluid and its fine.

I was having that same problem..... punchin it from any speed and it would just rev up and it only got worse as I put miles on it till it died. I have built 4L65e and new PI 3000 stall going in this weekend thats going to fix my problems hopefully.

When my band died I would go 1-3-4 when accelerating. Do you still have 4th gear?

The thin plates and frictions they put in the transmissions to add clutches causes problems. the transmission frictions can't handle the heat in a high HP application and warp. Next thing you know your transmission is toast. Ask me how I know, I made the mistake of doing the 9 disk clutch. Now I am going to the blue plate special in the 3-4 clutch pack while I rebuild the whole thing again.
