Budget brake upgrade for 2000 Silverado. (05+ front, SUV rear)

And also if have a 2001 2wd Silverado 1500 extended cab, is that something I match on the parts I take off? Such as another 2wd truck or is there a difference in the 2wd and 4wd applications? I also have a rack and pinion instead of steering gear box.

The hydroboost swap honestly isn't all that hard and well worth the effort in my opinion. Hardest part is pressing pulleys on/off the pump to swap it and even that really isn't that bad. My truck with all the upgrades I listed earlier weighs over 5200 lbs and will easily out brake my 89 trans ams factory 4 wheel disks lol.
As for the 2wd to 4wd parts interchanging all the brakes themselves, the power steering pump, and the booster assembly should all swap over. Only different thing I would think would be the power steering hoses themselves being different for rack vs box.
But I'm not 100% positive since I've never compared them myself.

I have the snap on set to pull of those pulleys, but all hydro boost systems I've seen have been with a gear box instead of a rack so I'll have to look into but I still should see a big increase in braking with the upgrade brakes and no hydro boost though right?

I don't know for certain if the brake lines themselves are the same but I imagine they would be. I ordered braided stainless for my truck and they went right on the calipers I swapped in.
Get the front calipers for a truck with rear drums. The 4 wheel disk trucks use the same calipers as the older ones.
As for the rears I got them for a 2005 4wd Tahoe. Never really researched or compared the different rear set ups so I can't really comment there

Ok I've read this and got on car-parts.com and im pretty sure i could do this conversation for way less then 400 bucks. Yes there used parts but come one there not something needing changed often. Considering the price i could replace them a couple times compared to buying new. And what's the chances? But im a cheap basterd!
