Well, I'll see how the 2B is. If I don't like it they offer a free re-stall, so my options are open. Anyway, the trans is back together. Everything looked fine with the exception of those clutches. I'm sure they were beat up like that for the most part before I even got the transmission. I'm surprised they held up as well as they did.

Well, its official; my *** has been kicked by this truck. Transmission is acting up for a 3rd time. After making a few pulls on the highway, maybe 3-4 seconds of WOT, I pulled off on the exit ramp. Trans temp was 170 getting off the highway, after about a block of driving it had jumped to 230, so I pulled off the road and let it idle for about 10 minutes, slowly brought it back down to 185.
I decided I needed a fan on the trans cooler, so I took it easy through town. Temp hovered around 180-190...after a few miles through town I started hearing little clicks during the 1-2 shift. And then it began happening on the 2-3 shift. Sounded like something between running over dried leaves and electric arcing. Eventually it got bad enough to where it would make that clicking sound for a few seconds prior to the shift. About 20 minutes later on the way to a friends house, it still kept making the odd sound but it felt like it was remaining in 1st for a while gaining speed and shifting straight to 3rd.
I feel pretty defeated with this one. I've spent so many hours on my back doing R&R. Trans has been in and out twice already. Can't seem to find any damn closure with this thing.

No, the cooler isn't new. But I flushed that thing out with 5 cans of cleaner in both directions, and pumping 100psi air through the lines from a compressor. There is absolutely nothing in it or the lines. Only thing I can think of is maybe shift solenoids are plugged from the initial converter failure, which is still a mystery in itself.

That code, along with defaulting into 3rd gear only, is likely a tuning issue. Take a few minutes & read all the way through this thread.

There are a couple of DTC's you must disable if you have an aftermarket "looser" converter installed. If you don't, the PCM thinks a shift was not completed(target rpm didn't occur), so the PCM throws the tranny into "limp" mode, which is 3rd gear only. If you drive on it much in 3rd only, you'll smoke the clutches, especially if you have good hp/tq.
