Default Broke a Valve Body Filter Screen, but do I really need it?

While putting in a Transgo valve body separator plate I broke one of the valve body filter screens while trying to install it. My question is this- are they really necessary? The instuctions say to even consider drilling a hole through the screen and putting a spring inside to keep it from getting stuck together and burning up bands and such. Kinda stuck on this one- don't really know if I should continue or wait till tomorrow to try and hunt down a new screen. Thanks.

I broke one of those on a transgo install one time. I was getting pissed so I just buttoned everything back up and the car drove fine for a long time after that until it got smashed up. The right thing to do would probably be to get a new one and install it though.

That's kinda what I figured, but if I can't find one by end of tomorrow then it's going back together. Also, ran into a problem with the Transgo instuctions for the 2nd accumulator re-assemble- thier pic does not look correct. I may be wrong, hell I don't know- but everything else was gravy!

I'd like to help but, it's been so long I forget how I installed that.
