With the 65E's running well into the 11's nowdays it's worth struggling through the growing pains. It's not like the 80E's don't break either. They are much stronger, but can still break. I'm interested in finding out what broke in yours also. I'm guessing the reaction carrier. How many miles did you put on it?

I deffinitely don't want to go through the growing pains but I'm going to have over 3k in this tranny by the time I get it back and I can't afford to get anything else for a while so I will have to ride out the warrenty. I only put about 8k miles on this tranny total which about 1,500 miles was with the 6.0L. I was running 10psi normally and 13psi in the last couple of weeks which finally killed it.

Somebody needs to do a nice write up on the 80E swap for a 4wd and make it a sticky for us novice mechanics. The only training I have ever had is reading tech and performance trucks forums so I need all the help I can get. To this point I have done every install on my truck except the Trutrack so if somebody would do a nice write up I will learn to do something new. LOL

PS I have even learned to tune by reading online. Isn't that scarry.

That write up is awesome but unfortanately there are quite a few things that are well beyond my comfort level.

I heard back from Performabuilt today about my trans. They said that I didn't actually break anything with power but I just had some bad luck. I don't know if I have this right but they said the seal on the front input drum came apart and started leaking fluid away from the front clutch packs. The clutches actually welded them self together from the friction.

Turbos love the taller gears...
i wont ever go thru the headaches of the 4l60E stuff, i wish i would have gone with the 80E in the first place.. would have saved me alot of money and headaches.

FLT lvl5 holds up to 500rwhp I think is what they rate it at. With your turbo LQ4 I think usiing a 60e may be futile!
You must not get out much, Myn held for 2 years with about 650-700rwhp with a stock output shaft. There is a member on this board with a built 60e and a trans brake behind a 427 on nitrous.
