Default Blew up my 4l80E, carnage pics inside!!!

Hey Guys,
I'm looking for opinions from knowledgeable trans guys on what could have caused this. The trans in question is 2003 4l80E that I bought off ebay from a auto dismantler... it had markings on the case and converter that it was gone thru a year ago.. mileage unknown.. once I got it, I opened it up to install a transgo HD2.. everything seemed to have gone good upon reassembly and got to drive it around a few hundred miles.. I did have issues with it those miles though... I couldn't tell if it was the transfer case or the trans (as I also had to open up the transfer case to change out the input shaft and never had a transfer case apart before)... after I would use reverse or made a hard run it seemed like the driveline would bind up.. the truck would surge and actually stop rolling... I don't know the power flow of the 4L80 to understand what exactly is going on... but I believe the front part of the trans is used for overdrive... is that correct??

anyway here is some pics of the carnage

Looks like the over drive planet Let go and ruined the Overrun Clutch and the Forward Carrier.

I think you found the random binding issue.

Maybe Vince will chime in, meanwhile can you explain more about the build and use to help him? What RPM's were you running?

I wonder if something wasn't seated properly upon reassembly?

How does the inside of the pump look where the gears ride?

It looks like just a stock rebuild... but don't know the history... It just looked really clean whne I opened it up to put in the shift kit... As far as RPMs.. shifted at 5500 15 psi of boost

I wonder if I screwed up upon reassembly, but i dont know if it would have assembled if it wasn't seated right..... I will take the pump apart when I get home...

On a late model sprag if you do not have it index properly where might I say loaded properly it will free wheel and do all kinds of crazy stuff. Generally I hear a noise in forward with a no reverse condition or a binding in Reverse if I remember correctly. I'm assuming you used the late model sprag given the year and that'll be the one that has the blue and black cage. I did return your private message this morning by the way.

Thanks for getting back to me Vince, I will let you know what I end up doing.. I might just sell the truck.. I have too many other projects going to have so much time consumed with the truck.. I might just find a local 4l80 pull the turbo off and sell it.. but we'll see..
