Default Bad brakes

Well, for the past several my rear rotors have been warped. I would say about for about the past 10,000 miles or so.

It had actually been tolerable up until 2 or 3 weeks ago, when it got really bad - the whole back of the truck would just bounce up and down and around. I'm in the process of getting new wheels, at which time, I will be upgrading to the eradispeed 14" rotors. But that is about 2 months away and, unfortunately, I can not wait that long - hell, I couldn't wait another day - it was driving me nuts!

So I ordered rotors (from tire rack) and got some factory pads. Anyhow, $300+ later I now have one smooth braking truck again. All is right with the world

While I had the rotors off, I also adjusted the parking brake - best thing I could have ever done. For what I thought was just a shitty GM parking brake system, just needed a little adjusting. It now works better than when it was new.

I did actually get the power slot rotors (since they were only $7 more than stock)

Just thought I would share.

What all did you adjust in the parking brake? What pads did you use? I was thinking about using Hawk pads.

The parking shoes have only one adjustment and that is the little wheel, on the cylinder between the shoes, that will adjust the shoes in or out.

I used the stock GM pads. I might go with the Hawk when I eventually do the 14" rotor upgrade.

They are well over $100, but he got them down to $93 for me. Oh well, I think cost is $73, so I think they could have done better.

I adjusted my parking brake once and I started to hear them rubbing inside the rotor when driving around. So I went back in and rounded off where it was rubbing with a die grinder and a stone.
