Looking at all my choices for a differential to replace the G80. The Torsen seems to have some neat characteristics - anyone have one in a 2wd? They seem to be used in AWD Audis and the like.

they also came in the military hummers....I plan on getting one when my G80 seems like its on it last leg....from what I understand, they pretty much dont break.

Yes, but there are different versions...T1, T2, and a T2R from what I can find. They don't have any clutches, which to me translates to something that will work the same tomorrow as it did today. The Eaton gets good reviews, but it wears (albeit slightly) every time it engages, whereas the Torsen does not. The Torsen can also be set up to deliver different ratios of torque to the 2 wheels.

I replaced the G80 in my truck with a Torsen. So far I love it and it hooks really well.

What bias ratio did you go with?

Mine is set from the factory, no choices in that size diff. IIRC it is 5 to 1.

Randy's Ring & Pinion had the goods for me to fix the AAM 11.5 inch rear. It was plenty difficult finding a solution to ditch the lame G80 in that size diff. Still hoping for a Detroit one day....
