I know the trucks that have these transmissions are still fairly scarce, just wondering if anyone has heard anything bad/good about the new 6 speeds yet.

I have a few friends from another forum that have the new Denali's and love the 6.2 with the 6L80. GM left more on the table with these new 6.2 than before, nothing that tuning can't take care off.

On GM's powertrain website, they show that the 6L80E is only rated for 40 more lbft than the 4L70E. Is this transmission really be gods gift to hotrodding chevy's or is the advantage just the gear spread and programming?

From the looks of it, with a supercharger a guy is going to have to build up the 6L80E nomatter what.

The 6L80E has the same max engine torque rating as the 4L80E and the 6L90E is over 20% higher than that.

I bet these things will hold up to a supercharged 6.0L pretty good in stock form but, that is just a guess based on those ratings.

It's GOTTA be better than a 4L6XE trans, at least I sure hope it is.

If just doing a build on it is all that has to be done that will be much better than swapping in a totally different trans(4L60E-->4L80E swap) which is currently the best option IMHO for the GM guys making decent power and blowing the 60's.

Time will tell though how good/bad it is.

We had a Escalade with 5k miles and needed a new 6l80e. It was one of the first the dealership had sold. It's been almost a year now.

How easy would it be to transplant a 6L80E into a 4 speed NNBS truck? Should it be plug and play since the truck will already have the seperate TCM and the transmissions are the same size?

Someone's got to be experimenting with this by now.

Got one. I have all the tq mgt removed and it shifts real nice. The 6speed keeps it in the power band great. the first gear will have you second guessing the thought of buying a converter.

My brother-n-law is a GM tranny man and says he hasn't even had the pan off of one yet cause they never come in with problems. and he has'nt heard of any issues from the caddie side either.

I gotta figure out a way to get one in the Goat
