Ok, I tried doing a search but came up with nothing. Is the difference between the 8.5 and the 8.6 rear ends the diameter of the ring gear or are there other differences? Reason I ask is that I'm trying to buy a locker for the rear end but its listed as being for the 8.5 rear.

I want to say the lockers are the same, it is the install kit that is different.. bigger bearing or something.. I know my true trac was for a 8.5 but my install kit was for 8.6..

i believe one of the outer bearings is the only difference

 

8.6" rears are wider also.

 

Where does everyone buy their ring and pinion and LSD units at?
