So I was wondering if there is a way to put a 6L80E in a 03 SSS AWD or has someone done this yet. I ask because I heard that they are a nice trans. So if you can lead me in the right direction that would be great... Thanks in advance

I think he might have been talking about the new 6 speed autos. If that is the case Speartech has done a swap into an older truck. They used the old computer to keep the gauges and some other stuff happy while running the new engine/trans with the new computers. It wasn't a straight forward type of deal but, has been done.
I bet something similiar could be done in a SS but, you would have to change the reluctor wheel on the crank to a 58x one and probably some other stuff that I don't know about.

This is the Speartech swap https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=401899
The limiting factor in your truck will be your 24x reluctor wheel.
And still no one makes a stand alone controller for the 6l80/90.

Check out TCI's new 4L80E to a 6 speed conversion with paddle shifters!

I can't figure out why they would turn a 4L80E into a 6 speed. Doesn't seem like the 6L80E would require the same programming to get the system to work like they have. Am I missing something?
