really though, anyone have any ideas why they would use a 4L80E as a base? That seems silly. Jamming 6 gears in a case designed for four? Gonna have to make the gears themselves smaller, I would think. Either way, I couldn't find anything on TCI's website for a price or a spec sheet.

The 4L80-E already has three planetary gear sets, just like the 6L80-E does. (Technically, a 3-planet transmission is capable of providing 8 different gear ratios at best, the compromise is how many upshifts become multi-clutch events requiring synchronization.)

I called TCI about the tranny, and you have to use there computer to control shifting functions. So I wonder how well it would mesh with 2007 NNBS RCSB computer functions so I could get a 6 speed one way or another.

If you have a GMT-900 (07-up truck) all you need is swap in the trans (GM 6l80) and tune the ECM for the 6l80 trans. interface and add the wiring connections. Since you already have a 58x relutor wheel crank and later ECM. Be pretty easy!

MNC5 has done a 6spd auto swap into a newer truck and it wasn't that simple unfortunately.

Is there a thread? EDIT: Found it https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=416720

I can't be that hard that was for a 6l90 the 80's shorter. Physically the parts fit and have off the shelve items with no mods need. The only thing I could see would be the harness and ECM mods.
