Default 4wd launching

If possible I think it'd be awesome to launch in 4wd and then switch back to 2wd once I'm sure I won't be peeling out all over the place.

So, here's my question:

Is it harmful to my truck to try and launch in 4wd and switch back to 2wd at WOT?
And are there modification that can be made to make it not harmful. If so, id like to know which parts need to be fortified/ added etc. To be able to do so without breaking something.

Thanks!
Alex

I haven't personally seen anyone have issues doing it, but that's because everyone I know (including myself) leaves it in 4WD the whole time. It's not untill I'm going under 45mph that I switch it back to 2WD.

I launch in 4x4 and switch it to 2wd as soon as it gets off the line.(within 60 ft) best 60ft in my heavy turd is a 2.12. I've done it 50+ times this way fwiw..

It doesn't look like you're at this power level but here is some info to read.

I think that only becomes an issue around 500 or 600 rwhp and above.
