Default 4l80e swap fail

finished putting the 80 in place of my 60 in my pickup yesterday. filled it with fluid started it without a tune and I think the trans is smoked. It has all forward gears, PRND all want to go forward and it feels like 2nd or so gear.
I tried to unplug the big plug in hopes of getting atleast reverse. nothing
Im beginning to think the trans is toasted.
I sent out two tunes to HP tuners in hopes of a segment swap. I do not have a sensor pigtail for the front speed sensor will this thing move at all?

Are you not properly tuned for it? Did you use a harness or re-pin the factory wires?

What he said^^^^

You Need to add a pigtail for the ISS and run it to the PCM as well.

It's not tuned yet but I was hoping with the plug off it would atleast get reverse. I repinned the plug on the bottom.
I'm now torn between a segment swap and adding the sensor or just getting a tune from a 2500.

Do you have HPTuners? You can do a segment swap yourself.

Im thinking that even unplugged the trans should have 2nd and reverse.

Without a tune and VSS added, your dash is going to light up like a ******* xmas tree though.

The no reverse sounds bad. What was the trans history?

Well turns out when I did the shift kit I didn't line the manual valve up properly and that was my issue. Pulled the valve body back off and fixed it. Added the speed sensor and did the segment swap. Shifts great now.
I'm still experiencing converter unlock when I let off the gas so I will have to see if that can be addressed. But so far I am happy to have found the issue.

Ha! I've had to double check my VB out of fear of doing what you did. I'm glad it was an easy fix.

My 80e swap unlocks when I let off the gas too. I can see why it does it as not everyone wants to engine brake all the time.
