Has anyone encountered clearance issues with the speed engineering y pipe?

I just installed a set of their 1-7/8" headers and y pipe on a 2002 Tahoe 4x4 and the y pipe clearance to the 4x4 driveshaft is millimeters.

I'm waiting on my pushrods to arrive (did a lifter and cam swap at the same time) so I haven't driven it yet but I'm worried with how close it is.

 

How old are the motor mounts, maybe really old and worn out mounts are making it closer.

And if you have too, just smack some clearance into the y-pipe. It's not going to hurt the flow of the exhaust.

 

If driveshaft is close and engine mounts are good check the transmission mount, it could be sagging or broken.... Which would cause the driveshaft to sit lower

 

thanks for the replies guys. I will check both the transmission and motor mounts tomorrow after I install my pushrods.

I should be able to tell visually if they're sagging/broken?

 

Possibly, usually if the engine mounts are bad the rubber will look like it is separated from the metal, the trans mount if you look at it and it is sagging the aides typically will be bulged, if not try jacking up the transfer case and see if the mount expands....

14 years and 130k that enough to wear em out....

 

I got the truck running last night. After driving it around a bit, it appears my passenger side header is making contact with the frame rail for sure. I don't see much if any signs of contact of the y-pipe and 4x4 driveshaft.

I will replace the engine and transmission mounts and check back in. Anyone have tips on replacing the engine mounts??
