Did you install a service valve for the AFL valve?

I would suggest pulling vb and installing the transgo afl vb kit comes with reamer and valve. Afl is a common problem in these transmissions and will cause some funky problems. I do the afl valve in every build about 3 out of 5 cores will be worn out in the afl valve bore.you could also do the sonnax kit however the sonnax kit runs about 450 bucks

i picked up a transmission pressure test gauge so i can test it, put about 40 miles of mixed driving today no issues (knock on wood) at this point its that slow neutral roll that id like to figure out

i will do the valve body AFL since i plan on pulling it any way to make the shifts a little firmer

If its rolling in neutral the forward clutches are either dragging or being applied what was the forward clutch pack clearance

You've got pressurized fluid getting in that circuit somehow. When you drop the valve body again check the valve body itself for imperfections in the sealing surface as well as the trans case. Obviously use fresh gaskets every time you drop a valve body and make sure valve body torque is even, sticking to tq value and sequence.

yes new gaskets and seals was used true out the trans, valve body was torqued i let it sit for about 30 minutes then rechecked since i use assembly lube to hold the gaskets in place, i didnt see or feel any imperfections on the valve body or case but will check it again
