well at 129 and some odd thousand miles, and a couple of weeks of being problematic... i think the 4l60e has had it.as stated in prior posts id suspected the torque converter not locking up on the highway was causing my transmission to overheat and shift hard. i wasnt far off. i got a service engine soon light last night and took it in to autozone to get the code pulled, p1870. looked that up here and found out that the tc was indeed slipping and sending the transmission into limp mode. anyway, Deckhand... any experience with country transmission, good or bad? hopefully good because thats where im taking it monday. i just dont know about Dr BJ, and some of our other esteemed choices. let me know ... id appreciate it.
i read on here that this may be remedied by some valve body work or replacement.. if the tc hasnt blued. its gone into limp mode at least 5 or more times int he past two weeks. i know a couple times it got a little warm. anyone suspect if my TC has blued? i dont think just the valve body is going to address all its problems,it also began slipping pretty good going into 3rd. as well as not wanting to drop down into first right away. 1-2 shift wasnt pretty either.
thanks

I had my shiftkit and servos installed by man named Dick Ryan. It has survived so far and hasnt failed. This is spraying through shifts, and the whole nine yards. He does mostly performance tranny work, etc.
I would be careful who you take your trans to, most automotive workers in town still think these trucks have "350's" in 'em.
Ill try and find his number and post it for you. I do know that his shop is at holly/carrol lane across from 'car crazy'.
hope this helps.
