Default 4L80E Question

I found an add for a 4 speed auto with tranfer case with 42K miles out of a rolled 2005 3500 crew cab. The guy doesn't seem to know that much about the trans but looked & said the transfer case was electric shift & the he was sure it wasn't an allison.

It is a very good deal but I will have to drive a couple of hours to see it. He said someone already bought the 6.0 engine out of it.

This has to be a 4l80e correct? I am wanting to swap this into my 2000 1/2 ton. If this is an electric shift if should be the auto trac & therefore usable in this swap?

2500 did not have autotrac. You can use your autotrac case with the adapter input gear. I dont think 6L came with allison transmissions so it should be 4L80e.

OK, it's a 3500 I assume that's what you meant. I asked if it was a manual or electric shift & he said electric. This transfer case can not be used for my project? What transfer case is this? I will do some more research.

It is a 263HD transfer case. Looks like it came with some 2500 & 3500 pickups.

I am going to buy it, seems like a good deal, $500 for the tranny & transfer case.

Hopefully I can use the transfer case for my conversion.

$500 would be a great deal even if it was all cooked. Nab it before he figures out how much it's really worth.

I Had a friend go buy it for me. It is a 4l80e & np263 TC with 42k miles. I will go get it when the weather clears up.

I have hit a brick wall with converting to the 263 TC, I guess no one has done this. Seems like all you would need is to apply 12v + to engage 4hi/lo etc. but who knows.

I guess I will put a new input shaft on my autotrac. I really didn't want to use it because it has 200k miles on it. It still works so we'll see.

That 263hd case is worth some money, I replaced one in a good friends truck, tough to come by, and the used ones with a million miles are upwards of 700, remanufactured is north of 1k. The autotrac is proven to be a pretty tough case if its in good shape. I will be using one with my reg cab build which will be around 900rwhp.

You can put a 263HD in a 1500. However, you will need a three button dash switch and a different transfer case control module.
