Default 4L80E eletronic question, multi gears engaged

As some of you may know I had a problem with my new 80 not wanting to move. I just pulled it tonight and found that the harness to the tranny got smashed between the tranny and motor. I noticed several smashed wires and one pink completely severed wire. By any chance could this cause multiple gears to engage at the same time due to a short? I am still going to look on the inside and see if anything looks messed up, but not 100% sure what I am looking for.

Sounds like you found your problem. Most of the wires are used for a ground signal. However the pink wire sounds like it might be for a power source. Not sure with out looking at it. I would repair the wires and make sure your fuses are good. Hopefully you did not short out anything and you will be good to go. Vince

Thanks Vince, it doesn't have but about 30 min of run time, just enough time to get it full of fluid and find out it would not move. I will go through everything with a fine tooth comb tomorrow and resolder all the damaged wires. I want to get with you about building me and 80 or maybe a 3 speed for my new set up.

took the tranny all the way down to the direct clutch (last thing I pulled out to install the trans go spring) and all seals were fine. I did not notice any ware on the clutches or anything so I assume the eletrical problem will be the end of my problems. I just Pray to God it is not my brand new converter.

No doubt the truck wouldn't go anywhere with no commands to the solenoids. I'd fell very confident the issue is the harness.

Ya, like Howard said, all pink wires in the harness are key-on power, and there is a lot of them, lol.
