Default 4l80 help

Morning,
My output shaft on my 4l80 turns both ways. It a long story, but i pulled it apart
and the one way was damaged. Had help rebuilding it from a family member. I was not there for reassembly. Does it seem like I should pull it back apart? I hate second guessing but, I have very bad luck with other people working on this truck.
Thanks, Bill

The output shaft should only spin one direction? Is that just in gear, or park, neutral, everything?

I fooled around with it this morning. I get park, it seems stuck in one gear. When turning the input the output turns the same way in all gears, it also turns both clockwise and counter clockwise.
Thanks Bill

Is this in the vehicle or are you just sitting there with it on the bench spinning shafts?

Then why do you think the output shaft shouldn't spin both ways?

I mean...even in the truck, if it's not running and in gear/park....the output will spin both ways. What makes you think it should only spin one way on the bench?

I just want to make sure all is well. I thought that there is a one way that prevent it from turning one way? This is my first experience modifying any thing. Reading and seeing videos on YouTube is different than first hand knowledge.
Thanks Bill

sounds like your username is misleading...

Either put it in and run it...or take it to a shop and have them go through it if you "hate second guessing" because it doesn't seem like you're ready to go through it yourself

Sorry, I did not engineer the 4l80. I only asked for help from fellow performance truck lovers. I thought that what the site was for? I operate heavy equipment in 478 Operating Engineers if your wondering where the name came from. But perhaps your right just install over the winter and see what happens.
Thanks, Bill
