Default 4L80 pressure settting help

I usually get a pretty good grip of most topics and run with it from there. Consider myself fairly mechanically inclined....on a learn as I go basis.

But I never tried to understanding the whole science of line pressures. Never dicked with them or felt the need to. I took what Allen gave me and stuck with them through thick and thin, changing everything but that. Well, I gotta know now. I have read quite a bit about them and am still a little undecided on WTF I understand. Sooo....I have grippy's (I believe it was grippy's) 80e TQ management deletes(he put up a thread about it), my own TCC settings, speeds, blah blah...but I was hoping if I throw up my line settings you guys could tear them apart. Too much? Too Little? Okay but conservative? Okay but aggressive? Where should I go if I need to change them? Rules of thumb? Too many questions? I was told awhile back my first 80e failure I had was due to low pressure problems. Whatcha think? Help me here?

I was told that with the shift kit line pressures should be set to stock and shift times to 0. Still waiting for the new trans though. Here's a couple of threads:

yeppers...got all that before, thanks for the links. Being that this is an 80e not a 60e I am figuring there are more tuning differences and less restrictiveness against certain settings. Maybe I am not running enough pressure at times due to the increase to an 80e? Most info I find in searching threads is on the 60e...good for others....sucky for me.

I would suggeest a shift kit. Like a Superior kit, to correct the problems that could arrise. It takes about 2hrs from start to finish to do. If you are familier with transmissions. This will correct one of the major problems which is runaway line pressure. This with a good tune will make for one nice shifting 80e.

I installed the ThansGo HD-2 shift kit in mine, stock line pressure, no torque management, shifts fantastic, I've had zero problems in about 20k miles with approx 80 1/4mile passes on it

I'll put up a list of what's been done to it...a shift kit is in it. Everything feels great until about 10K miles...low pressure problems. We will be taking it a part again Tuesday, but the symptoms say low pressure. Broken pump...maybe....piston leak...maybe...but it seems I have ALWAYS had issues with low pressure problems, even when I had the 60e. When I look at the base shift table for pressures...it just looks ridiculously low in the low torque/part throttle area. If it's a broken pump I am gonna blow my own gasket!
