Default 4L80 it is...

After blowing my 5th 4L60, it is time to bite the bullet and get a transmission that is not going to fail every 6 months and 3,000 miles. In the last 2 years, I have changed more transmssions than oil.

It will have a shift kit and 2500 stall. A local shop is doing the conversion as they have ran out of answers on why the 65E has been failing.

For those who have done the swap, how bad is ratio in first gear? Is a 2500 stall going to be sufficient to get me going?

Cool

The stock stall behind a 6.0 with a 4L80E is 2500 rpm in the 1500HD, 2500LD and the 2500HD. I have stalled mine up to 4.xx psi of boost and might be able to get it higher if I hold it longer. You have to hold it a while to get the boost up there. That may be enough stall for you. Sorry I cannot compare it to anything else because it is all I have used. It is the same stall Grippy has in his 2500HD with the Radix.

You have a ton of torque down low which will help, but you will still notice a difference. Wait until you see how much longer it goes before it shifts into 2nd at wot.

Wow that sounds great. Is 60 mph at the stock 6000 redline or bumped up redline? Is that with 3.73's or 4.10's?

How about 2nd gear, how fast can you take it up to in 2nd?
