4L65e Transmission shift question - HELP !!

Yes Sir....I have the engine, trans and T/C mounted in a rolling frame (no drive shafts no body). The steering column is out of the body for modification.

When I manualy shift the trans I only count 6 positions when cycling through the gears (park, reverse, neutral, drive, d1 and d2 (I assume)) exact same on the shift gate in the column.

The transmission is a newly rebuilt '06 4L65e. the steering column is out of a 91 Silverado. ( I believe 91 Silverado's were all OD automatics...right?)

Realy confused
