I did mine myself, however I think it would be foolish to try and take it off the dowels without a jack. drain the pan, just use a floor jack with a 2x4, the pan will balance on it. once you pull it away from the flexplate, take the converter out. after that it will be easy. I slid mine off the jack onto my chest, then onto the floor, then lifted it up on my bench. 100lbs maybe, without fluid or converter.

 

Pull driveshaft. Pull your torque converter bolts free. Remove the rear cross member with a floor jack and a 2x4 under the pan. Slowly lower. Unplug everything and don't forget the tranny lines! Unbolt the bell housing bolts from below the truck with a 3' extension and your 3/8" ratchet
Pull your top bolts first then alternate side to side removing the bolts with the transmission on the jack. Once you remove all bolts your dowel pins will likely be hanging on so a short pry bar will make short work of it.

Gently lower down and your halfway there.
