Well, decided to go with the upgraded 60e. They are putting in vette parts, harden sun shell, upgraded clutch pack, etc. The only thing I am not getting is the 5 pinon planetary.

My cost will be ~$500. to upgrade to the 5 pinion planetary they wanted another $700.00

Service guy said the $500 version rebuild would be good to ~500 hp. The $1200 version good to 550-600 hp. I will never hit 500 hp so I think I will be ok. I just hope his numbers are correct.

You need to consider the torque you will be putting out with the radix too. Torque kills the planets more than hp does. When you hammer it off the line torque is what is getting you going and will kil the planets. I would go all the way if I were you but either way tis going to be a hell of alot better than the factory ****.

Tustin is hands down a great dealership to deal with!

Check Around For A Friendly Dealer, Not All Are Bad. When You Do Replace The Trans Have A Competent Trans Shop Install A Trans Go Shift Kit And Trans Cooler, change The Fluid And Filter Every 15k. Mine Lasted 4 Years Before The 2-4 Band Started To Come Apart. Over 200 Passes On Slicks And 437 Rwhp And My Extended Warranty Stepped Up And Paid For It, No Hassles. Had A Helpful Service Guy At My Dealership.

I've never heard of 4-pinion planets breaking, nor have any of the tranny shops I've talked to. Seems to be more of an insurance item that no one ever ends up needing.

There is unanimous agreement, however, that an upgraded sun shell is a must-have.

Sounds like you're getting it done right by a good place, D, very cool.

Ask one04fx4 he toasted a couple of them. Nitrous and high hp apps do bad things to them.

you are in my area, where would a competent tranny shop be located?
My dealership is taking care of me, which I am stocked about. He is putting together the parts list and I will pick and choose from there. We will see how it goes.

Well the final outcome is a fully built tranny with all the little goodies and the 5 pinion planetary, hardened sun shell. I opted not to go for the hardened shaft. it was a $500.00 option. In cruising through jags website, they mention that they could not find a difference between the hardened and regular. anyways, the the whole thing will be 1000.00 for the parts and about 200 side cash for the guy to build it. So, I am happy at this point.

Thanks all for advice and commentary.
