I read thru a bunch of posts on the shift kits. Just how hard is it to install one? I've done the basics on my truck, but I dont want to get a custom tune until I re-enforce my tranny. So from what I've read everyone seems to recommend the transgo shift kit and corvette servos. How do JET or TCI compare?
Should I just leave the transmission modifications to the professionals?

If you have no idea on transmissions leave it to the pros but research a good tech in your area. If you buy the stuff and bring it to them they will most likely install it for you for a installation fee. Key is to find a good builder for the transmissions, hard to mess with if you dont know what your doing. Transgo hd shift kit around 95.00
Servo 2-4 10.00
Servo Od 10.00
Acumulator piston I think around 35.00
B&M Super cooler 100.00
And while your at it get a 3000 stall converter
That should be good Tranny wise, Not a bad idea to throw in a tranny temp guage either, personally I feel more comfortable with it, but everybodys diffrent. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

I had never opened a tranny before and installed a transgo kit. Things didnt go so hot and had to take to a shop. The problem I had is that the results were not correct and I had no way of trouble shooting it because I had never worked on one before. It was a humbling experience. Next time, if there is one, will be left to a professional.
However, the actual install process was not that hard really. It was time consuming and tedious. If you are capable, it might be worth trying, I would just suggest you be able to troubleshoot if womething doesnt seem right.

ok I found all the parts I want but I can't find the overdrive servo for less than 80$, can anyone point me in the right direction?
I was also reading about the transmission coolers; about how some models are inefficent (the fin and tube ones right?). How is this B&M? p/n BMM-70264
Thanks again

im doing the same exact thing right now, im getting a transgo and a vette servo in the next few weeks. I wanted them in before i get my Nelson tune. I found some good prices on the parts , now im just lookin to see how much it will cost me to get it put in, because i have no clue about what im doin as far a transmissions.
