I've been considering what to do when my 4l60 needs replacing, and my Autotrac case (which I intend to keep) is pretty much all that's keeping me away from the 4l80 transplant.

Thanks,

Well I am on hold while I wait for another 4l80e Trans is being shipped from speed. But that’s another story.

Yes I'm just replacing the input shaft in my transfer case. Which IMO is the worst part of the 4l80e swap. But it isn't too bad. I'm also replacing the chain and all the bearing in the case.
I'll start working on a detailed write up.

Are you pulling the 60 out with the transfer case still attached, or are you splitting it first and pulling them out in 2 pieces? When I eventually get a stall and some long tubes, I plan on doing them at the same time, and I wanna try doing the trans/transfer case in one piece. I saw an undercar trans jack somewhere for like 50 bucks...just can't remember where dammit

Man I really wouldnt recommend pulling that thing in one unit they probably weigh close to 300#s together. Or atleast get a couple of buddies to help you. 03silverado5.3 for a 2wd it would take about an hour and half to pull it taking your time and probably 4 to put it back in cause you have check and recheck everything taking the damn torque converter bolts in and out takes the longest out of evrything. You have to use the old screwdriver on the flywheel teeth to and that as a REAL PITA. I would highly recommend to anybody that is doing this theirselves find somewhere that has a lift you can use or rent bc doing this on your back in the driveway would be crazy. The t-bar crossmember does not have to pulled to pull a transfer case and 60. Just a reminder that when you get ready to put the tranny back in put two quarts of atf in the converter and it also helps to put a little petroleum jelly on the o-ring on the input shaft so it doesnt get peeled off when you put the tc on. Also you can use a small plastic or rubber hammer to gently tap the tc onto the notches on the pump rotor. When you re-install the driveshaft(s) put a little loc-tite on the threads so they dont back off on you. You might as well replace the rear seal on the tranny too while you have the driveshaft out. I have pulled my tranny three times due to various reasons and I can assist anyone on the colors of the wires for the transfer case because they can be a little tricky and any other questions about removal and installation.
