I paid about $2400 for my rebuild. Before that, I spent that and then some trying to get the 60e to live.

Each time the converter was sent off and cleaned.

I’ve got about $4k in the swap if you count the $1400 triple disc converter I bought.

i was able to swap mine for around $1300, trans was used $850 with a 6 month warranty though, modded my stock crossmember and i did the install

My built 4L60 is holding up well, but I think about it every time I get rowdy on Mexican back roads... that's a costly tow bill lol

If you're going to boost a pickup and beat the hell out of it...I can see justifying an 80e swap.
But, jokes aside, if you have a stock 5.3 with maybe headers and a cam and some larger tires...and you think you NEED an 80e swap to have reliability. You either have a terrible builder youre going to (and by the sounds of it...that would be everyone posting so far) or you're grossly overestimating the power and stress on the drivline from that little 5.3
