Default trans-go 4l60e hd2 programming kit

sorry if this is in the wrong section, i never saw one for transmissions or anything.

but i was looking at a shift kit and saw this trans go one and it said something about manual, and holding a gear to whatever i want. which im not really trying to do all that, just wanting firmer harder shifts.

but what does the "programming" part mean? and is this kit just an install and go or does it need to be taken to a dealer or shop and have the computer messed with?

thanks.

Yeah it is in the wrong section. Someone will move it for you. There is a Gm suspension and drive train the the section down. Most people do a vette servo which firms up the 1-2 shift. Very nice, real cheap and easy upgrade. Part costs 10-15 bucks. Circle D sells them. I took mine to a tranny shop to have the HD2 kit installed since my tranny was already messed up and they were in there I told them to throw it in. They charged me 80 for the kit and 100 for the install. You don't need to mess with the computer or anything. If you are not comfortable working on trannys just take it to a pro and sit back and wait tell its done. You can really mess up your tranny if you have 1 little spring or something missing or in the wrong spot or add to many washers to it. Good luck hope my advice helps you.

The reprogramming comes in to play because trans go does change the way a few things operate internally with the transmission.

But, there are actually several steps related to the internal rotating assembly that are important. Some shops will install the kit with it in the car and go on from there. yeah it can be done that way, but in the end you aren't taking full advantage of the kit nor are you solving some of the inherent issues that GM built into the tranny during the original engineering.

Just think of it as a kit that updates many different known issues specific to that transmission.

If you have any questions feel free to give me a call, don't mind discussing it with you.
