No there is more to it than just swapping the extension housings. The output shaft would have to be swapped for the correct one. In order to do this the bell housing, lockup solenoid from pump, pump, reverse input drum, input drum and the band will have to be removed. Then there is a snap ring that keeps the shaft in place. Remove the ring and then the shaft. Reverse to assemble. Vince

I have 1994 chevy k1500 4x4. gas with 4.3 l
Can I take the transmission out that is dead and tie off the transfer case and put in a 2 wheel drive trasmission to get me thur the summer till i can get a rebuilt. if i do not hook the trasnfuer case up will the 2wd tranny fit and still drive?

1995 was a special 1-year version. 1996-2000 are different as well, and I get lost after that. LS1tech website has some good threads on compatibility years, but again, yours in like a 1 or 2 year only.
I don't know what to say about having a FWD truck though...😒. I guess if it gets you by the summer. Just don't try to do donuts. Maybe hang out with the Ridgelines for the summer? 🤷
