Rock-On is an hour from my house so I been hangin' out. Dave's 4l60 will hold up to 700 rwhp in a car or a truck. He doesn't recomend going over 700 in either but they have an f-body making 1028 rwhp with 27 passes and counting.
My trans is going on the dyno tomorrow. This is the last year for the 5.3 if it makes it through the year. I've got a bigger motor in the works and I'm going to run the same trans so we'll see how it works out.

Key thing in your statement is FBODY. I will wager my pink slip that NO builder can make a built 60e last under my foot with 700hp to play with. In a 2wd its alot different then in my 4wd when I race on the street I have more traction than a 2wd could ever hope for. I dont like rock-on due to the fact the man couldnt even tell me what he puts in his 80es and blew me off on three different occasions. I would have bought one from him but he blew me off so I am getting JAG performance to build me one. To the starter of this thread I have been around here a while and alot people try and make the built 65es work but in the end almost everyone making decent power goes to an 80e. Do what you want but look in the sigs of anyone making good hp(550+) 90% of them will have an 80e. There are a couple running the FLT level 5s and all that but I seriously doubt they would last if someone were daily driving the truck and beating on it all the time. The 700r4 is inherently weak. You will NEVER be able to go WOT on the 3-4 shift and make it last more than once or twice with decent power. Look at all the guys in this thread ahve had built 60/65e's blow up on them. I have killed three myself. You may be able to make one last for a while but it will die when you start putting the power to it and traction. Do what you think you must but Im getting out of the damn 60e game and going with what I should have 4 grand ago

just to add to what 1slow and everyone else has said... I killed a 50,000 mile 60e with just a CAI and exhaust an a few bolt ons in my 2wd ecsb 5.3 running good gas... I mean come on... thats just not cool.. but in that particular case I went back with another 60e because it was replaced under warranty...

I just read thispost again, and if you have a 80e already, there would be NO reason to put the 60 back in your truck.

What is wrong with the GMC 80e? I don't see you needing to build a 80e with your mods, unless you got something in the works you are keeping from us.

Nothing Is Wrong With It. Truck Had 45000 Miles On It But It Was Used The Right Way To Move Just About Everything Tow Backhoes And All. What About That First Gear Issue Will That Hurt Me Bad? I Think All Of You Are Right The 80e Is The Way To Go Just Going To Get It Built To Get It Over With.
