Default 4L60 vs. 4L70

What are the primary differences between the two? Would the 4L70 be expected to handle a reduction in torque management better than the 4L60?

Just wondering, because my new 6.0 Vmax (with the 4L70) w/4.10 is due to be built this week!

Come on girls!!!!

I'm new to GM performance but not Performance.

Is the question that I am asking all wrong? I can't believe that no one knows the difference or worse yet, no one cares.

The 4L70 is an available option in 2007 vs. the standard 4L60. Certainly someone has an opinion?

Personally, I have no idea. If I was to guess, the masses will say to go with the 4L70 if you plan on modding. If your staying stock (yeah right), then stay with the 60. its put in the truck because its SUPPOSED to be able to handle a stock motor.

But if your gonna mod it, and we all do, then go with the 70, and save yourself the PITA, when the 60 blows.

Oh yeah, people around here, they generally need more than 45 minutes to reply.

Welcome

By the way, I hate you. Thats my truck your buying. congrats.

A lot of good info in that thread but we are all still learning about the changes in the 06 and later units. The pictures that I took did come from a 70 out of a 06 tbss. We have since found out the the added iss can be found in the 60, 65 and 70 units in the 06 and later units. I originally thought that this was the change to make this unit a 70 but I was wrong. I do know that the 70 had an output shaft with a ID groove that I have not seen in any other unit. Maybe this is special but we have a 300m billet output shaft that I'm sure exceeds it. Vince
