I had 275/60/17's with a belltech 2/4 and it didnt rub.

You won't have a problem. That tire is only 27" tall. You're gonna have alot of gap with that small of a tire.

Smaller wheel, lower tire, helps with the mpg

With a tire that much shorter than stock you are increasing your gear ratio. If anything, you're making mpg worse. I doubt you'll notice a difference either way.

Nick...

Better than I was getting with the Eagle GT II's, 275/60/17's. And I believe changing the gearing is on the list. Plus I have a Wheatley Tune.

Going to a shorter diameter tire will increase the RPM's you are turning on the highway, thus worse gas milege. Probably not a drastic change, but it will. However your going to have major fender gap with a 27" tall tire and only a 2/4 drop.
