Question 4.3L converter behind a 5.3L??? & will 2000 trans work in a 2003 truck???

i have a freshly built 2000 4l60e with a brand new converter out of a 4.3L truck... my question is Will it work?

also my truck is a 2003 model so do i have to change anything to put the 2000 4l60 into it?

It will work, no differences. The converter will stall alittle higher, but probably not to noticable.

will the converter be ok behind a 6liter... crew cab on 24's?
or should i try to find a stock 5.3 conv?

and when you say there are no differences you are talking about the years of the trans correct?
AAMCO told me i had to change some sensor and something else inside the trans for a 99-02 to work in a 03+

As long as your not WOT 24/7 you should be more than fine for daily driving.
A buddy of mine still has his V6 tranny behind his H/C/I/NX 408.

As far as the sensors go. It should be ok from 2000 to 03. I thought the only thing they changed was the DBW/DBC from those years.

The park neutral position switch on the side of the transmision will need to be swapped over. 2003 and up use a newer style pressure control solenoid, but you can use an older style without problems. There are a few other internal differences, like a roller reaction shaft etc. But none of that will cause problems, it will work just fine. I am assuming it came out of a 4.3 C/K truck and not a S/T truck?

You probably won't notice a difference in converters, so I would just stick with what you have.

my brother in laws truck was a v6 and installed a 22k mile 5.3L, i took the tranny to a buddies shop who is well know down here in the valley and all he did was a corvette servo, wider band and extra clutch packs. Also, we swapped out the 4.3 converter for a rebuilt dayco. He told me behind a 5.3 it should brake stall 2300-2400rpms and flash around 2700. I will be installing a Stock 4L60e tranny with same upgrades and TCI deep pan in my truck along with a stock 4.3 conveter tomorrow...Will let you know how it goes

Try Oregon performance. And they are like 20 bucks.
