Default 3/4 ton transmission

So i know the 5.3 to 6.0 swap is plug and play to an extent. My question is will the heavier allison trans from a 3/4 ton or 1 ton also bolt in my 1/2 ton? I keep chucking 2nd gear and wanna put the Allison in it. Any help will be appreciated.

Lots of people have good luck with the 4L80e from 97+ trucks i believe. Im not 100% but i believe all you need is the 6.0 flex plate, 4L80e tq converter, a wiring harness (nelson performance sells the little harness you need), and a tune. with a few little things like a shift kit they are very tough transmissions.

and the 6.0 swap is literally plug and play minus the tune.

Id loveto see somebody put an allison behind a small block. Isnt there a body lift required?

Go 80E and you will be happy.

I actually already have a three inch body lift so this might be the route I take. I don't know. I'm watching a B&M 4l60E on ebay right now. We shall see I guess. Thanks for the info though.. I also read that Allisons would sap to much HP from a 5.3. I haven't done the swap yet. Still searching for that killer deal on a LQ4 or LQ9..

you would have to figure out how to control it also, not to mention with a 5.3 it would be a serious dog, The Allison robs a ton of power. And i wanna say the max rpm its rated for is only 5000?

IF you keep killing 2nd gear, why not just do a 4L80E?

You can buy a standalone computer to run the allison. Destroked makes them for guys who run them behind a cummins.
