246 howl/whine
What would cause a howl or whine from the ransfer case? I blew the rear end while it was in auto and now it makes a noise. It can be pretty loud at times but mostly heard when slowing down to turn a corner. Theres also a little play when getting on and off the gas, it feels as though a load in the bed has shifted.

Pinion bearing maybe? Not sure if that was replaced when you redid the rear. Might have to take it to a tranny shop to get a diagnosis of what's damaged in the case.

Nah when I got the rear done I replaced everything, locker, ring, pinion and all bearings.

mine was doing the same thing youre explaning. had the front and rear gears replaced, and suprisingly the noise went away. i was sure i was gonna have to rebuild the t-case, but no more noise. i dont remember what case i have, its not the auto track, but mine doesnt have clutches in it. as far as i knew, none had clutches in the transfer case
