2008 5.3 Drive Shaft Vibration!!!
#1
I have a 2008 Silverado 2wd extended cab V8 with 35k miles on it and i still am wondering what this noise is. Alot of people say its my driveshaft but some say otherwise. When i reach the speed of 95 up in the front of the truck i hear a vibration and i feel it in the steering wheel. It feels and sounds like driving over those rumble strips that are on the highway to wake you up if you are sleeping. Does anyone have the same problem or knows what it is?
Thanks Austin

Help us help you.
Have you bought another driveshaft yet or atleast had your high speed balanced?
If you have a factory AL driveshaft, you are going to want to swap it out anyway.

It is a one piece aluminum drive shaft and if it keeps vibrating or breaks i am willing to put another one on. I really dont want to spend $600 bucks if it isn't the drive shaft. I haven't gotten it balanced either, but i guess that is what ill do next.

But when it does break, things go really bad. It can break the transmission housing, damage the underbody and hit the gas tank and brake lines and end up costing you 3x the money to fix it.
All we are saying is that if you want to go at speeds above 90mph, replace the driveshaft before it costs you something more. It might fix your whole problem in the end too.
