Default Hydroboost part needed

Anyone have a dead hydroboost unit lying around with a good spring retainer( star-shaped part in this pic)? Still searching for the one out of mine and the reman unit from Rock Auto came with nothing, contrary to what this pic from their website shows.

Had some back and forth with Rock Auto today due to the product not being as shown. They went back and forth with ACDelco who first said the part is not available separately....I guess GM wants to force you to buy a new unit from a dealer. Explains why the reman units do not come complete (output rod, spring and retainer are missing). Then they came back and told me I just need a hardware store push nut...wtf????

This is after I sent them all the following pics. Think I will just throw a big washer in there with something to keep the spring centered. Maybe add a snap ring, but once the master cylinder is bolted on it will hold the washer in anyway, just 1/8" further out than the OE retainer...unless I use 2 washers.

These pics are just off the net and not exactly the same unit.

Rigged this up for now from a flat washer and a 1/2" HDPE hose coupler. Cut down the coupler, heat softened it, and rolled the end to lock it onto the washer.

Thanks for this. I had the same problem. Retainer went flying and I can't find it. Seeing how it is used it seemed like it would work without the retainer so I put it on with just the spring & rod and the brakes seem to work fine. I'm thinking the spring may wear on the master cylinder though without the retainer so I may rig up something like you did.

Most remans do not come witb the rod spring and retainer... Boneyard or dealer may be best option for replacement, unless you rig something up, good job btw!!!

Finally found the retainer this summer...sitting behind a wiper arm on the truck. Looked there several times when I lost it and didn't see it?? Not to mention tearing through my entire garage. Wasn't going to pay hundreds of $ more from a dealer just to get the clip.
