2002 LQ4 to a 700R4
#1
Hey all,
I'm at the point where my engine can go into my Typhoon that is undergoing a 6.0L transplant. I originally intended to use a 4L80E, but time has caused me to get the truck back together with the 700R4 for now.
If my motor is a 2002, does that mean it has a shorter crank?? I have the special flywheel, but do I need that spacer??
Anyone know the part number??
Thanks!

When I went from the stock 5-speed to a 700r4 I needed the spacer. Also, I don't know how much power you are making, but the 700 won't last any longer than the 60e. I had the best of the best parts in a rmvb 700 and broke it 3 times before I just broke down a put a t-400 in it.

So when you went to the 700R4, you got the new flywheel and the spacer then?? What year was your motor?

Depending on what year truck he has, he might actually have a different crank alltogether since it was a 5spd.
I would venture to say you'll be alright with a 60E flexplate. That engine probably came with an 80E flexplate with no spacer though. If you don't have a 60E flexplate, let me know, I have my old one still and I can send it up to you. It seems like this is something that you're just going to actually have to do before you'll know since it's a 700R4 and converter not a 60E with a Gen III converter.

early model 60s are same as a 700r4. so to use the 700r4 with the 6.0. look into a 98/99flexplate from any 5.7/5.3/4.8. they used the older 60s which were same as a 700r4. you can also use a 60e converter with your 700r4 as long as its from those years.

Ok, so I got my spacer and bolts today.
I also got this flexplate:12551367

So then can anyone point me to a converter?? Because the bolt pattern is smaller on my 700R4 converter than it is on that flexplate, and you mentioned a newer model converter for a 4L60E.
Or should I do what I've read others do and just elongate the holes??
Thank all for the help........I feel like I'm really close to getting this motor in now.
