I managed to do mine without removing hitch by cutting off the head of the thru bolt and pulling it out the opposite way. Figured a trip to dealer to replace those bolts (inserted from opposite direction) was well worth saving the pain-in-the-*** of removing trailer hitch (as I'd done on previous truck). The replacement bolts weren't that expensive...
