I have Caltracs on a standard 1500 with 2" drop shackles and that's it. Works great, but make sure your ready for the way its gonna make your truck ride....

How does your ride? Mine already has stiff suspension and I'm used to driving 1 ton dodges so if its a little rough I think it wouldn't be a problem lol. Is the install pretty straight forward? Any welding?

No welding, but you will replace your rubber bushings in the front leaf spring hangers with solid aluminum bushings. If your suspension is hard now expect to feel double what you do now. After I swapped in the caltracs I chased a drive line vibration that I thought was pinion angle for two weeks. Turned out to be a drive shaft that was VERY slightly out of balance. It shook so hard at 80 mph that it set an ABS code. I pulled my drive shaft and got it rebalanced and it was better but is still not gone. With those solid aluminum bushings you will feel EVERYTHING in the drive line. It still shakes noticeable over 80 mph but not as bad as it was. I never felt the shake before the caltracs. Just make sure you are excited about hooking on slicks, cause it will. But if your expecting any better traction on radials you are wasting your time and money. After Caltracs, you will feel a dime on the road if you drive over it...

Maybe you have too much preload? I've installed 5 or 6 sets in the last couple years and never had that experience. The set on my 1500 is going on 3 years old, and it rides just a little stiffer than stock, but it's definately not objectionable.

you seriously can tell me that you don't think that the solid bushings don't transfer any extra vibration from the drive line?

I'm probably gonna bite the bullet on a set. I've always head heard good things about them and a buddy of mines runs them on his truck and loves them. Ill keep you guys posted on this thread in a few weeks.
